Scheduled to Open April 2012...... New Lakeway Hospital
Construction of the physician run and operated Lakeway Regional Medical Center is underway. This is an exciting and long awaited addition to our community. The Hospital will draw patients from Lakeway and the surrounding communities who have been traveling up to an hour to receive treatment at a major hospital. This project proposes an 8 story hospital, medical offices, retail stores and restaurants.
When complete, it will be revolutionize the area by providing approximately 1500 full time jobs, and potentially thousands more as the local ecomony is boosted by millions of additional dollars. Attracting quality medical professionals to the Lakeway area should be easy thanks to the Lakeway and Lake Travis boating, fishing, and golf lifestyle. The Lakeway housing market and all Lakeway and surrounding businesses will benefit from the economic boost of adding a major employer to the South Lake Travis area.
The construction will take place in three phases, as needs increase. The project has been carefully engineered to allow additional phases to be added without disrupting existing operations and patient care. This was a major and time consuming feat, but eliminates a common problem of phase built hospitals having to close down completely or partially during construction. The current site and utility infrastructure have been designed and built to accomodate all planned future phases.
Phase I will encompass 270,000 sq.ft. of space with about 180 beds and an emergency room, including a Level 3 trauma center with a helipad. Medical services and specialties will include cardiology, oncology, heart bypass surgery, cancer therapy, radiation therapy, respiratory services, OB/GYN services, orthopedics, nuclear medicine and more. Physical therapy/sports medicine, occupational therapy, speech therapy and pain management are additional services offered.
Phase II is expected to begin construction within 9-12 months of the first phase completion. Phase II will expand the facility to include 250-280 beds.
Phase III could see the hospital grow to 450 beds if the community needs warrant it.
Plans call for a total of seven buildings includeing a mixed use retail building near RR620 as well as a hotel pad site and a daycare site, as well as two parking garages.
